25 minute hike to get to the castle
Day 1- Jet lag, Creatif Hotel Elephant, Marienplatz City Center, cafe + beer + locals bar
Marienplatz
Day 2- Munich city tour (Max- Joseph-Platz, Marienplatz, Karlsplatz, Schloss Nymphenburg, Olympic Park, BMW Headquarters, Schwabing) + Restaurant (Mmm sausages)
From 1826 to 1850, by order of King Ludwig of Bavaria, Joseph Stieler painted the portraits of 36 beautiful women from a variety of social classes, ranging from the daughter of a shoemaker to the daughter of a king. What he produced was a compendium of feminine beauty in accordance with the king's personal preferences. Beauty was considered to be an outward sign of moral perfection.
*after shot* missed bus, too lazy to wait one hour in a beautiful palace so we decided to walk/run for 40 minutes to the next stop, Olympic Park...in a foreign country, in rain and with no sense of directions...RAN back to the original stop, barely made it...oh, did I mention that Olympic Park ended up being a 20 minute drive? yeah...
YUMMY white sausage
can't do Germany without beer
Day 3- Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles + Oberammergau
Linderhof Palace is a place in Germany, near Oberammergau in southwest Bavaria. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one of which he lived to see completion.
We weren't allowed to take pictures of the palace inside but it is said that Ludwig had an obsession with the French and therefore used Versailles as an influence. Ludwig would also completely seclude himself in this getaway palace; he would sleep during the day and wake up at 8PM, have lunch at 2AM, and breakfast at 8AM. He considered himself the "Night King"
Neuschwanstein Castle in the distance built on the peak of a hill. The castle was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as an homage to Richard Wagner, the King's inspiring muse. The castle was the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle.
